6 Medieval-Gonzo Plants

1. Adamic Plum

Within Shiver, on the neighboring mountain to Zahir's pear tree, grows the adamic plums. Light-yellow plums grow on the surface in lush fields of vibrant tall grass. Uprooting the plums' plant reveals roots in the shape of an elderly man. When the roots are exposed to the cold air of Shiver they speak out of the elderly man's mouth:

1. The words of a random scroll! Which, if quickly written down on parchment, can be cast as a scroll.

2. A poem! An arrangement of words never before spoken. Listeners gain permanent +1 WIS.

3. The True Name! Of: 1. Adom 2. A demon king 3. A ruler 4. An assassin.

4. "Filth!" Yellow gas slowly spews out of the elderly man's mouth. After a minute the gas becomes Cloudkill.

2. Kingsfeather

It's rumored the first kings of Lefort used this flower to gain power. If kingsfeather is worn against one's forehead the wearer can cast Command using their CHA. Kingsfeather cults exist in the slums of Babilan, but they quickly implode. Every cultist wears kingsfeather smeared against their forehead, endlessly ordering each other in infinite loops of tasks.

3. Elfanasia, or Dreaming Flower

Everyone knows the elves are sleeping. That's why it's so shocking to see them traveling or socializing within civilization. Centuries ago the elven council, Caviar, cultivated elfanasia off-island. When the petals of the flower are ground into a pasty powder and snorted the user is knocked unconscious. The unconsciousness the user experiences is the same unconsciousness as other elfanasia users: they can interact and communicate in this dream world together, no matter the physical distance of their sleeping bodies. Coupled with the fact that elfanasia users only awaken when they're shaken awake, the majority of elven society fell into a deep voluntary slumber, building their kingdom within shared dreams.

4. Jacob's Ladder

Every year a jacob's ladder grows a foot. It's flimsy and frail at first, but every year it grows stiffer, harder. Some jacob's ladders reach beyond clouds, out of view. Most are cut and killed for this invasive growth. Foolhardy adventurers climb its small, but sturdy, rungs into the heavens. Legends say the oldest jacob's ladders pierce into the kingdom of giants, rich with treasure and danger.

5. Doom

The most common drug of Lefort, simply because of its versatility:

The leaves of doom, often called "Chump" or "Wrap," are used as rolling papers for tobacco or other pipe-weed. They taste and smell like blackberry and ginger when they're smoked, and provide a brief relaxing high.

The flowers of doom are ground up and frozen into small pills, often called "Beldrops" or "Dills." They taste like lemon soap and a high lasts 1d6+2 hours. Users experience overwhelming euphoria and a loss of mobility: DC 15 CON every hour or user is paralyzed.

The roots of doom contain a highly addictive sap that's removed using doom-specific tools. The sap, often called "Tracy" or "Angelsap," smells like sweet flowers and is rubbed on users gums or somehow injected straight into their veins. +1d4 x LV damage every attack and +1d4 x LV temporary HP for 12 hours. It feels like everyone is plotting against the user and there's bugs underneath their skin. Permanently lose 1d4 WIS after the high has ended. A user reduced to 0 WIS this way overdoses, and dies.

6. Changeling Rose

The villagers of the Holy Land believe in the fey, but the fey they've seen are not those described in folktale. Changeling roses, through convergent evolution, have the same functioning reproduction organs as female humanoids in Lefort. If any creature mates with the changeling rose, in about 1d20 months time, the rose will give birth to a changeling: a pale, green fusion of its father and the changeling rose with stats as a shambling mound. A century ago an insane druid tried to create an army of changelings but ultimately failed, his "soldiers" scurrying off into the Glorwood and developing their own intelligent societies.
