Session 4: Goblins

Motherfuckers Prime, the first campaign in the Dying Lands. A mix of Mörk Borg’s setting, Knave 2e’s rules, and lots of homebrew.

Day 15, 2:00pm —

Traveling back to Haum. The party passes a group of basilisk inquistors on their way to provoke Violence. Unbeknownst to the inquisitors, Gorthron casts Marble Madness on their leader.

That night the party has nightmares about a blood moon, red lightning, and bottomless pits.

Day 16

As the party travels they find a failed deal on the side of the road in the form of two corpses. Notably amongst them is the Foehammer, which Calypso equips.

On the first watch that night Calypso witnesses the moon turning red, with night lightning cracking. Later during Stile’s watch he has an encounter with Rofo via his black carriage. Rofo instructs Stile to tell Gorthron and company to visit his abandoned lounge, find his paintings, and deliver them back to Grift. Stile signs a contract with Rofo and instructs everyone the next morning.

Day 17

The party outruns a horde of goblins.


Goblins

It’s clear that the moon is permanently red now, with lightning dimly illuminating the night.

Day 18

The goblins catch up to the wagon overnight and charge. Victoria takes heavy blows from the goblins, but they all make it out of the encounter uncursed. The names “Raffel” and “Tordek” appear on the Foehammer’s scroll.

Day 19

The party returns Haum. Pandorog is escaping to Allians: children are going missing near the villages of Sarkash Wood and the rumor is it’s him. Cydwin, after speaking with some fellow alchemists, hears about a wishing altar in the swamp near Lake Onda. Argval has a job. His buddy Nagel Krat in Galgenbeck is looking for guards to watch over his Medickal Shoppe. He also saw that giant bird circling around the town again while the party was gone, disappearing like an ominous reminder. Umbalminster is close to death. He demands immortality or wishes someone to replace him as Mara’s pilot. Umbalminster and Cydwin meet. The party decides to stay in town and rest up before heading to the swamp, and plan on picking up the paintings on the way back. They buy butchery tools in the city square so they can collect monster parts for alchemy during their journey.
